Wireless barcode scanners are a clear example of the best just having got better. Much like Alexander Graham Bells wired telephone that got eclipsed by the cordless phone which became a craze across millions of households, wireless bar code scanners have become a mega-hit with an ever-increasing number of business entrepreneurs making the upward shift to realize greater productivity day in day out. To put it simply, wireless barcode scanners offer you all the benefits of your regular barcode scanner or barcode reader and then, some more!

But hold on just yet, while wireless barcode readers and scanners are blitzing the market, you still need to which type of the device you need to best suit your business needs before going ahead and making a purchase. You need to very clearly articulate the reason for wanting to move into the wireless barcode scanner space and the plausible reasons for wanting to go wireless could be any of the following:-

* You need the freedom of mobility to be able to capture information away from your computer because of the spatial location of your tagged products

* You might want to collect the data away from your computer but be able to sync it or upload it once you get back to the origin i.e. the computer

* You might not only want to collect data away from the computer but also be able to log on via wireless networks to a database and post the captured information

Thus simply put, do you need a simple barcode scanner with a really long cord or do you have a genuine need for a wireless barcode scanner? And once you do a cost comparison on the various types of the barcode readers and barcode scanners, both wired as well as cordless, you will know exactly how much you are paying for what, and how much you are likely to benefit from the application of the device. Accurate information capture, ease of the information capture, speed at which different materials can be barcode registered and tagged, exquisite levels of data control are just some of the innumerous benefits that this technology promises for the user!

Finally a key thing that you need to keep in mind is that implementation of a new technology by itself does not guarantee success. You need to handle the change from one level to the next very well and proactively too. as in the case of wireless barcode scanners too. People management as part of change management is crucial to the success of your business and this should be given core focus. New technology is useless unless its espoused as a unifying cause by all in the work force. Once you have mastered the change in people, you have truly put yourself on the road to progress. Experience the wonders of wireless barcode scanners and be awestruck!

To have proper ski maintenance is one of the most importance things you should not forget if you love snow skiing. There is nothing better than skiing your way down every challenging slope on your newly-waxed skis.

Waxing has two purposes, first, it makes the ski glide better on the snow; second, it will help you to have stronger grip while you ski your way down on the snow.

While there are different weather conditions, types of snow and skiing style, these are the ones which determine the type of ski wax to use. Basically, there are three types of ski wax a skier has to know; the base, the grip and the glide ski waxes.

The Base Wax

Professional skiers would tell you to protect your new skis with base-conditioning wax. This type is usually used as a primer for the grip wax. It is also the most common ski wax used by amateur skier. Usually, base wax comes in a tin. When applied, it should be heated with an iron then rubbed into the base of the ski. An aerosol may also come with this wax which can be sprayed to your skis.

The Grip Wax

This is a sticky type of ski wax which is usually used in cross-country skiing. It is applied in the center of the ski so that when the skier presses down, it grips on the snow pretty well. There are two types of grip wax:

• Hard Kick – it also comes in a tin and is commonly used for newer snow. Mostly, it is rubbed directly into the skis until the wax becomes smooth film, but others use cork to rub it to the skis.

• Klisters – this one comes in a tube and is stickier than the kick and it is used on icy conditions.

The Glide Wax

Amateur skiers could easily understand the purpose of each type of ski wax that’s why most of them used just one type of wax. For those who are more advanced, they also use just one type of glide wax–the general-purpose glide wax. However, experienced skiers use the color coding for this type of wax to attain optimum performance on the snow.

• Red – it is commonly used during slushy conditions.

• Blue – this is for hard-crusted and dry snow.

• Violet – it works best on a mushy snow.

• Green – best used on a powdery, cold and dry snow which most of the skiers dream of.

Although it is advised to glide wax frequently, you don’t have to do it every time you ski.

Whatever type or style of skiing you want to perform on the snow, proper preparation of your skis is a very important requirement which includes waxing; this is not only done for better performance but also your own safety.

Secrets to Promoting Your Business at a Trade Show

Trade shows show promise as a golden marketing opportunity. Many business owners are stepping outside of the traditional box and investing in portable signage. Talking one-on-one with potential buyers provides an immediate gratification that is empowering. The trade show makes highlighting business services or products easier. Plan Ahead Working trade shows requires some planning. If possible, visit the facility prior to selecting you?r booth. Walk through the facility looking for potential problems that would inhibit your success, such as:

Food court: Although being located next to the food court could be beneficial, it creates a distraction. Its difficult enough to interest a potential buyer in 3-minutes; you dont need the sweet smell of cotton candy interrupting.

Competition: Dont be suckered into renting a booth that is right next to a competitor. Some people believe its quality that counts and are eager to take the challenge of competition.

Accessibility: Ideally, your booth should be near the entrance or exit of the building, or the restrooms, or the main isle. Wherever there is an adequate flow of traffic.

The location of your booth and the signage you use will have a direct result of your trade show success. Stay focus on the appearance of your site. Use a banner to display your company logo, web address, and phone number. Its important you capture the attention of potential buyers with signage and color.

Keep it short and simple, K. I. S. S. Use a secondary color to present information of importance. The two-tone color method adds depth and retains the attention of the reader and thats a big advantage.

Most booths are no more than a 9` by 5` area. So it is equally important that you make valuable use of the area. Eliminate any unnecessary clutter and keep things organized. Its important that your potential buyer doesnt become distracted.

Offering a special is also a good way to bring more people to your booth. Use a tripod and display board to feature your special offer. Write clear and in large lettering. Be prepared to answer questions. Working a Business Trade Show Business trade shows go hand in hand with network marketing. The primary purpose of this type of trade show is to draw the interest of other businesses. Your objective is to provide enough information for the other participants to promote your services or products by word of mouth or through passing literature.

Its common practice for business groups to exchange business cards and brochures at a business trade show. Each booth gives a 2 minute presentation to visitors, a free gift (ink pen, magnet, sticky notes, or eraser), and ask for the visitors literature. Professionals shake hands and begin asking questions.

How can I assist you?
What are the benefits of using your services or products?
Who is your target market?
How can potential buyers reach you?
Do you work outside of your area?

Business trade shows are not limited to business owners. Most vendors will invite others that may profit from using the services or products of the network group. Finding a good booth, using the proper signage, and displaying a sample of your services or products are all important elements of trade show marketing.

Try asking people how to gain weight and you’ll likely see some bewildered faces staring back at you. For the majority of people, hearing that question is akin to hearing the questions, “How do I stub my toe?” or “How do I run out of gas?”

Those confused faces not withstanding, the question is a legitimate one and one that frustrates those who find themselves on the light end of the scale. While those on the heavy end can’t get through a commercial break or flip through more than five pages of a magazine without someone offering up a solution to their weight problems, it can be a lonely struggle for those who want to put on weight.

If you are lucky enough to get a reasoned response to your question, it will probably involve the words “eat more.” That, despite being obvious, is great advice. Quite simply, to gain weight you will need to up your calorie consumption to the point where you consume more calories than you expend. Couple an increased caloric intake with a little weight training and you have the recipe for healthy weight gain.

You may think you eat a lot, even enough to keep pace with your more weight-furnished friends, but you are probably over-estimating your intake. After a trip to the doctor’s office to rule out medical causes for your inability to bulk up (thyroid disease and other medical problems can hamper weight gain), a first step to designing an effective weight gain program is to journal your eating habits. Counting calories for a week will give you an accurate view of your diet.

From there, increase your daily caloric intake by about 300-500 calories until you start putting on the pounds. Keep in mind though, while your caloric intake will directly influence your bodyweight, it will be other factors like the types of food you eat and your weight training regimen that decide the type of weight you are putting on. So if you are after an aesthetically pleasing weight gain, that of lean muscle weight as opposed to just some extra body fat to lug around, it will be important to pay attention to these factors.

To get the most muscle out of your weight gain, avoid the junk food and focus on eating whole foods. A good weight gain diet should be composed of 30-50% protein, 20-50% carbohydrates and 20-40% fat (the majority of which should be essential fatty acids). Different ratios within these ranges will work differently for different people. Keep up your food journal and experiment to find the ratios that work best for you.

Providing your body with the materials it needs to build muscle is only one piece of the puzzle. A weight training program designed to give the body a reason to add some muscle will be very important to achieving your goals. Your workout routines should concentrate on compound weight lifting exercises (those that involve multiple muscle groups like the squat or bench press) with weights that allow you to do 6 to 12 reps per set. Higher rep ranges will tone your muscles but may not sufficiently signal the body into muscle growth. Try to either increase the amount of weight lifted or the reps completed with each workout.

Don’t go overboard with your workouts. Two or three one-hour workouts per week done with intensity should do the trick. Too often those that have trouble gaining weight (hardgainers) spend too much time in the gym. This can be counterproductive in two ways. First, it means you are burning off a lot of the calories that could otherwise be used to build muscle and, second, you can over-train your muscles by working them too hard, basically making them unresponsive.

If you are looking for some company in your quest to gain weight, venture into the bodybuilding community. There you will find many people also seeking ways to put on lean muscle mass. You will also find many products marketed to help you gain weight. Be very cautious when looking at these products. Gaining weight may not be as in demand as losing weight but it is still big business and there are a lot of companies out there looking to take your money. While some of these products can help, others aren’t necessary.

With a little motivation, a weight gain diet and a solid weight training program in place you will have all you need to achieve your gain weight goals. Better yet, you will never again have to ask that question that gets all those funny looks aimed back at you. Neha Rai is a consulting editor at Stay Fit Always

Healthy Beverages
Posted on January 31st, 2012 at 8:05 AM by admin

It is important to have a variety of health beverages in your diet. Today, there are too many people subsisting on diet sodas, regular sodas, and energy drinks. These consist mostly of artificial sweeteners, artificial flavoring, and caffeine. The body will not perform to peak performance with a steady intake of these types of beverages.

My favorite beverage to have in substitute of a soda is orange juice. It tastes good, it is natural, and is readily available. Orange juice provides a good dose of Vitamin C. An 8 ounce glass contains as much potassium as a banana. It has a remarkable variety of phytonutrients. Beyond the great vitamin and nutrient content, a study has shown that orange juice can lower your blood pressure.

Another great beverage is apple juice. Fresh apple juice carries a significant amount of Vitamin A and C. The old time saying that an apple a day can keep the doctor away is true. Recent studies have shown that drinking apple juice can help slow down the process that leads to heart disease.

Cranberry juice is another powerful drink that should be added to your diet. Medicinal properties of the cranberry have been recognized for centuries. It provides powerful antioxidant qualities. A common treatment for urinary tract infections is to drink cranberry juice. It is thought that the strong acidic content of the juice provides an inhospitable environment for bacteria.

Beyond the standard juices, you can get a bit more exotic. Mango, pineapple, carrot, wheatgrass, and tomato are all great juices that provides wonderful health benefits. Many companies are now offering smoothies and other freshly made juices. As people become more health conscience, these will become the future of the beverage industry.

I hope you will see that there are many options to sodas. You will feel a great impact to your health once you have given them up and integrated the more healthy juices into your diet. At first it will take will power, but as time goes on, you will find that you will completely loose your taste for those sugary sodas.

The addiciton to drugs and painkillers has received more publicity after Rush Limbaugh spent a month in rehab for an addiction to painkillers. Celebrities such as Whitney Houston and Faith Evans also were in the news for drug rehabilitation treatment.

Studies at the University of Buffalo have shown that those who fall into addictions often suffer from a tendency for self-blame and shame and this may lead someone towards drugs and alcohol as a way to cope.

Look at your own tendences for shame if you are yourself inclined towards drugs and alcohol. Do you beat yourself up a lot after a specific situation? Or if you know someone with an inclination towards drugs or alcohol what is his or her self-esteem like?

In meditation classes it’s often discussed that we are not our negative emotions, but can watch them. There is always a part of our mind that can observe our anger, jealousy, frustrations etc. Get in touch with that part rather than staying in the swirl that is a downward spiral of self-recrimination.

When there is a painful moment due to a bad situation at work etc, try and take a deep breath and remember that the boss or co-worker has their own set of issues etc. It is easy to go home and want some way to forget things and that is where alcohol and drugs can come in. But try to think about the person who insulte you . Are they really in control of their own emotions and their own reactions? Or are they just responding like a reflex perhaps based on their own family history and issues themselves?

The more we can see what other people are going through, the easier it is to not buy into their outbursts towards us and this can help stop the cycle that leads people into drugs and alcohol to soothe the pain. This helps us to be calmer and more peaceful and not part of the chain reaction.

Most baseball fans thought that this year would be like any other in the AL East – a two-horse race between the reigning super powers in the division, the Yankees and the Red Sox. However, as we approach June, one team is hanging in right with the two favorites and the other two are not out of it yet. This is partially due to the Yankees and Red Sox having somewhat disappointing seasons so far, but regardless, the race could be interesting all the way into October.

Boston Red Sox

Currently:
The Honeymoon season after The Curse was finally vanquished is in the books, and Red Sox fans are hungry for another title. After a drama-filled offseason, the team sits in first place as of this writing, and this is due to an all-around solid, if not spectacular, team effort. Offensively, Mike Lowell and David Ortiz rank in the Top Ten in the AL in several categories, and others are holding up their ends. On the pitching side, Curt Schilling and Josh Beckett are off to strong starts, and the team is ranked 3rd in the AL in both BAA and K/BB.

Outlook:
The team has remained consistent, and if Manny Ramirez turns it on and their other players continue on course, this appears to be the team to beat in the AL East.

New York Yankees

Currently:
The Yankees are staying within striking distance of their archrivals, and theyre doing so with a patchwork outfield due to injuries. Derek Jeter is off to a scorching start, and although Jason Giambis batting average isnt great, he is supplying power and his OBP is outstanding. Young 2B Robinson Cano is beginning to fulfill his promise. The pitching has been decent despite the struggles of Randy Johnson, but Mike Mussina is throwing like an ace.

Outlook:
If the Yankees can get healthy, and Gary Sheffield appears to be close to returning to the battered outfield, Randy Johnson can regain his form and the team string together some wins, the Yankees will be there in the end, as always.

Toronto Blue Jays

Currently:
The Blue Jays are nipping at the heels of the Yankees due to strong starts from young players like RF Alex Rios and veterans like Vernon Wells. Overall, Toronto is doing it with offense, as they lead the AL in team BA and OPS, and rank in the Top 5 in nearly every other offensive category. Outside of Roy Halladay, the pitching has been mediocre at best, but the staff is relatively young and has lots of upside.

Outlook:
If the offense keeps its torrid pace and the pitching comes around in the second half of the season, this division will involve more teams than the Red Sox and Yankees.

Baltimore Orioles

Currently:
This is a team thats staying within shouting distance of the division leaders with two things: Miguel Tejada and overall power. Tejada is having a monster season, sitting in the Top Ten in the AL in seven different offensive categories. As a team, the Orioles are near the top of the AL in home runs. Their ability to manufacture runs, however, has been limited because of the absence of 2B Brian Roberts, the leadoff hitter whos set to return after missing several weeks with a groin injury. In his absence, the Orioles leadoff men are hitting only .198. The pitching, other than Kris Benson, has been a disaster.

Outlook:
If Roberts can help by putting men on base for all the home runs the team has been hitting, the Orioles will score even more. Otherwise, the team needs to find some pitching, as winning 10-9 games is not a successful long-term formula. Despite all of this, the Orioles are far from out of it at this point.

Tampa Bay Devil Rays

Currently:
The Devil Rays are showing signs of life after years of dismal results. The team is getting offensive firepower from young players like Johnny Gomes and Ty Wiggington, but not one of their regulars is batting over .300, which is why the team overall is last in the AL in BA. The teams MVP right now, and the player most responsible for the Devil Rays remaining competitive, is pitcher Scott Kazmir. Hes only 22, and his ERA is a miniscule 2.39 as of this writing.

Outlook:
If the team can hang in there while their young nucleus continues to mature, the Devil Rays could be playing meaningful games late in the season, which will be a welcome change for local fans.

Its winter again. The cold whether will surely bring different kinds of health problems such as colds, fever and sinusitis? among others. When you have a nasty cold and stuffy nose that wont subside for a couple of weeks, you must never take it for granted and dismiss it as a simple case of cold gone wrong. You can have something more than colds that could lead to sinusitis.

Common signs of sinusitis include cough, feeling of facial swelling, occasional fever, and headache, plugged up nose, toothache and abundant thick yellow discharge from the nose. If sinusitis is left untreated, it can cause further complications to the nose, middle ear, and eyes that can last for months or even years. Examples of these complications include infection of the eye socket that may cause the eyelid to swell and become droopy. A person whose eye has been affected by sinusitis may lose the ability to move the eye that may result to permanent blindness. Frontal sinusitis may also cause blood clot in the sinus area. If a person with sinusitis experiences headache, visual problems, seizures, and mild personality changes it may be possible that the infection have spread to the brain. This may lead to coma or even death.

But what really causes sinusitis? Basically, there are two types of sinusitis namely acute and chronic sinusitis. Acute sinusitis meaning the condition is temporary usually lasting for not more than thirty days. The symptoms of acute sinusitis are virus, fungus, bacteria, scuba diving, nose blowing, medications and foreign objects. Acute sinusitis usually results from a cold that remains on too long and eventually becomes an infection. It is, therefore, important to treat acute sinusitis as soon as possible to prevent any infection from spreading.

Chronic sinusitis, on the other hand, refers to symptoms of sinusitis occurring frequently or for longer periods of time. Causes of this type of sinusitis includes allergies, temperature and humidity, asthma, defective mucous membrane, narrow sinuses, poor air quality, dehydration, weak immune system, stress and tumors.

Although serious cases of sinusitis are rare because of modern antibiotic treatments available today, it is still important that proper care and treatment should be exercised. Steps should be taken to prevent it from becoming chronic. Understand that sinusitis left untreated can cause serious infections so always take the necessary precautions and live a healthy balanced life.

In recent years, it has become a growing trend to buy and watch classic television shows on DVD for your family entertainment. The availability of some of the all-time favorite classic TV shows on DVD and video has become pervasive throughout the U.S. This allows families to not only catch up on the past seasons of the television shows that they might have missed, but to go back to the classics that we and our parents grew up watching. It is now easier than ever to find seasons of shows that were produced 30 or 40 years ago, right alongside the DVDs of the television shows that are currently on the air. America seems to have become infatuated with remembering the characters and situations produced during the early years of television. What are the reasons for the increased popularity of classic television shows?

Classic television enthusiasts represent a large market of consumers. There were many classic sitcoms and variety shows that were aired between the 50s, 60s and 70s, that represent not only a large generation of viewers but a very powerful time in American history. They speak for the events of that age and include social and political commentary that goes right along with when they were made. Therefore, they are nostalgic entertainment and fun to relive. For those that watched these shows when they originally aired, classic TV DVDs allow them to relive that time in their life. For those that were too young to watch them when they first ran, DVDs allow them to appreciate the classics as new entertainment.

Classic television shows now available on DVD and video have created a new way to ensure that these memories are not lost. As more and more popular televisions shows became available on DVD in the 90s, there became a growing interest to see older television sitcoms on DVD as well. Shows like ER, Star Trek and The Simpsons were being sold at a tremendous rate which led to more and more people asking what happened to the other shows they once loved. Few television networks are able to show classic television programs which left a large gap of potential entertainment untapped and potentially gone forever. Without the DVD releases of these shows, the newer generations would have little knowledge about the early time in television history. But by allowing the distribution of these old sitcoms and variety shows through DVD, all generations can watch and love some of the classic shows and entertainers. Sonny and Cher, Donny and Marie and the comedic genius of Bob Hope can now be watched, remembered and cherished by those that remember when they were the stars of television.

In general, home entertainment and the purchase of DVDs has become one of the most popular entertainment expenditures for the American home. With televisions and DVD players become more sophisticated and movie tickets become more expensive, homes are opting to outfit their home to take on the task of keeping the family entertained. This means that more and more shows and movies to watch are also necessary. There is no shortage of network television to watch but there is a shortage on time to watch them all. When families know that they can purchase an entire season of a television shows on DVD in three to six months, they will do so. More and more we are finding families picking up classic television DVDs to watch because they weren’t able to watch them when they aired originally. With the television DVD market, it is now possible to follow the storylines of television shows that are on at exactly the same time. This is something that wasn’t possible even ten years ago.

Classic television shows are put onto DVDs so that a whole new generation of fans can watch them. Imagine a company that can make money off of a television series even twenty years after it aired. It no longer matters if a television show is currently on the air or not. With the new trend for putting classic television DVDs in consumers’ hands, classic shows are able to have a second chance at life. Some viewers can find shows from their childhood and enjoy the nostalgia that goes along with them, or they can teach their own children about the shows that they used to love. In the past, once a television show was no longer on the air, there was no way to see it again. However, now shows can be enjoyed over and over again. These shows are important to many viewers in lots of different ways and by putting these classic television shows on video and DVD, they can be popular for years to come.

Talk of vintage watches and one name that springs to the mind immediately is Mido. Mido continues as a strong favorite among the watch collectors of the world today. Mido has been a name to reckon with throughout its history of over 80 years, with watches that are meant for watch connoisseurs and discerning users. It specializes in mid price range watches that offer something special and out of the ordinary. Mido prides itself with making timeless watches.

Midos history goes back almost 90 years to 1918, when the company was born. Mido was started on November 11, 1918 by George G. Schaeren in Biel, Switzerland. Mido is a Latin term that means measuring. Since its very inception, Mido has been in the forefront of technical innovation and timeless designs.

The next several decades that followed the birth of the company, saw Mido advancing both technologically and aesthetically. While path breaking innovations such as the first automatic watch, the first watch with unbreakable springs, the first center chronograph, the worlds most powerful winding mechanism, and the worlds smallest ladies watch hall marked the technological advances, Midos collaboration with luxury brands threw up unique and attractive designs like the Mido Bugatti.

In 1934, Mido introduced the Multifort model, the first watch in the market to have a self-winding movement. The introduction of this automatic watch for the first time in the market was a major milestone in the history of Mido. The watch was also shock resistant, anti magnetic and water resistant all firsts at that time. Mido reached yet another milestone in the same year when it introduced watches with unbreakable springs. This was also the first time that any company had introduced such springs in the market.

Mido was the first to introduce center chronograph (a watch with all hands arranged in the center) in the year 1945. In 1954 the company introduced the worlds most powerful winding mechanism. In 1967 Mido was recognized as the maker of the worlds smallest ladies watch.

With so many firsts to its credit and a history of innovations, it was small wonder that Mido was in the forefront for a number of decades. Midos first automatic, anti-magnetic and water resistant watch remained in the forefront for over three decades right through to the sixties. Another model, the Mido Robot was a symbol of robustness in the fifties. So much so that a famous comic strip of the period was dedicated to the Mido Robot and its adventures.

Mido introduced its commander model in 1959. This was a single shell watch, the first of its kind and a novelty at the time. The single shell case revolutionized the industry, and improved the life span of watches significantly. Mido commander has survived to this day, and is among the most highly recognized watches with several individual models. Among the models featured under this range is an 18 karat gold model. The range also includes chronographs and COSC certified chronometers.

In 1970 Mido introduced the Aquadura Crown Sealing system, an innovation that earned a place for it as the king of waterproof watches. The Aquadura crown sealing system uses a natural cork that is treated and shaped to ensure the water resistant characteristics. This is used to seal the crown, which is the part that is most prone to, and affected by, water leakage.

In the nineties, the Mido World Timer was introduced. This was a functional watch that could show the local time at any part of the world. The user had to just bring the concerned city to the 12 oclock position and press the crown to see the local time in that city.

Mido is today a part of the Swatch group, which is a vibrant organization with over 150 production centers all over the world. Most of the production centers are in Switzerland, with the rest spread over countries like France, Italy, Germany, Thailand, Malaysia and China. Swatch group also owns brands such as Omega, Longines, Rado, and many more.

If you are looking for a sword worthy of battle you want to be sure and choose a blade that is made of high carbon steel or folded steel. Whats wrong with a stainless steel blade you might ask? Stainless steel blades are nice if youre going to hang the sword on the wall. As a matter of fact, theyre often called wall hangers. Stainless steel blades simply are not made to stand up to the rigors of cutting and dojo exercises.

Two very popular makers of blades that are battle ready are Paul Chen and Cold Steel. Cold steel, although and American Company has most of their oriental blades forged in China. They have done well in replicating the look and feel of a well made Chinese sword at a very affordable price. Cold steel has a great video that you can usually get for free that shows professionals putting Cold Steel blades to the test. You can never go wrong with a Cold Steel Chinese sword or weapon.

However Paul Chen swords are quite a bit more popular in the United States and around the world. Most Paul Chen blades are forged with a technique called differentially tempering, meaning that the top of the blade is actually stronger then the edge, which means that its nearly impossible to break the blade when youre really putting it to the test. Youll probably pay a bit more for a Paul Chen sword than a Cold Steel but most people are happy to and believe its well worth the extra cost.

Another popular brand of swords is United Cutlery, which are mostly for show or hanging on your wall. United swords are usually much less expensive but are very nice for above the mantle or a great decorative piece for a study or office.

Probably one of the most popular Chinese swords that everybody wants to get there hands on right now is the Chinese Saber which was used by cavalrymen and foot soldiers in the rush of battle.

Whether youre looking for a battle ready sword like the Paul Chen Zatoich Sword or one just to hang on the wall for decoration, you can be sure that it will add beauty and appeal to any room in your home or office.

Courage and skill being often of little use without a good weapon, I think it necessary, before I lay down rules for using it, to show how to choose a good blade, and how it ought to be mounted.

The length of the blade ought to be proportional to the stature of the person who is to use it: the longest sword, from point to pommel, should reach perpendicularly from the ground to the navel, and the shortest, to the waste; being large in proportion to its length, and not extremely large, nor very small, as some people wear them; the over large blades being unwieldy, unless very hollow, which makes them weak, and the narrow ones being not sufficient to cover the body enough.

How To Choose Your Perfect Blade

in order to choose a good blade, three things are to be observed: first, that the blade have no flaw in it, especially across, it being more dangerous so than length-way. secondly, that it be well tempered, which you’ll know by bending it against a wall or other place; if it bend only towards the point, ’tis faulty, but if it bend in a semicircular manner, and the blade spring back to its straightness, ’tis a good sign; if it remains bent it is a fault, though not so great as if it did not bend at all; for a blade that bends being of a soft temper, seldom breaks; but a stiff one being hard tempered is easily broke. the third observation is to be made by breaking the point, and if the part broken be of a grey color, the steel is good; if it be white its not: or you may strike the blade with a key or other piece of iron, and if he gives a clear sound, there is no hidden fault in it. in bending a blade you must not force it, what i have said being sufficient to know it by, and besides by forcing it, it may be so weakened in some part as to break when it
comes to be used.

It would not be amiss for a man to see his sword mounted, because the cutlers, to save themselves the trouble of filing the inside of the hilts and pommel, to make the holes wider, often file the tongue of the blade too much, and fill up the vacancies with bits of wood, by which means the sword is not firm in the hand, and the tongue being thin and weak, is apt to break in parrying or on a dry beat, as has been unhappily experienced. care should also be taken that the end of the tongue be well riveted to the extremity of the pommel, lest the grip should fly off, which would be of very dangerous consequence.

Most people who search on the internet have a favorite search engine. In fact, the majority of internet users choose Google.

Do you fall into this category? If so, are you taking advantage of everything Google offers?

If an internet search means you go to www.google.com and simply type 2 or 3 words into the search box, hoping to find what you’re looking for, you aren’t even scratching the surface.

How Can You Get Better Results?

Google is the number one search engine for good reason – their results are generally the most accurate. Even so, there are ways to pinpoint what you’re looking for even more effectively.

You have two options when it comes to fine-tuning your searches – you can use the Google Advanced Search screen or you can use “modifiers” in the main Google search.

Option 1: Google Advanced Search

When you go to www.google.com, there is a little “Advanced Search” link to the right of the main search box. If you click on that, you’ll get the much more detailed Google search, where you can make very specific requests.

The first four sections, highlighted in blue, are some of the most important. Here you can specify any of the following:

  1. All of the words – this will give you results with all of your search words, but not in any particular order. They can also be anywhere on the page.
  2. The exact phrase – this will give you results with exactly the phrase you enter. The phrase must appear on the page exactly the way you enter it.
  3. At least one of the words – this will show results with any one or more of your search words on the page.
  4. Without the words – this will give you results that don’t include your search terms at all.

These four sections can be used independently or combined to work together.

For example, you could search for the exact phrase ‘free virus software’ without the words ‘trial’ or ‘tryout’ if you’re looking for free virus software but don’t want trial versions that will expire after a short time.

As another example, you could use option #3 (at least one of the words) if you’re looking for something but don’t know exactly how to spell it. Put a few possible spellings in and it will find pages with any one or more of those spellings.

The rest of the sections on the Advanced Search page are pretty self-explanatory. One that I will point out is the Domain option. You can specify a website.and either search for something only on that site, or anywhere but that site.

If you’ve found an interesting website that doesn’t have a search function of its own, you can use this to limit Google to searching that site for whatever you’re looking for. In fact, the Google search is often better even if the site does have its own search function.

You can also use it to find other references to something you might have read on a particular website. If you search for it and exclude the site you saw it on, you’ll find other references to it that you can cross-check.

Option 2: Using Modifiers

Modifiers will let you use all the advanced features without having to go to the Advanced Search page every time. These modifiers can just be entered in the standard Google search box to get the same results as the advanced options.

There are quite a few different modifiers that can be used, but some of the most useful are as follows:

Putting “” around a phrase will search for the exact phrase. Searching for free antivirus software will show you pages with those three words anywhere on the page. Searching for “free antivirus software” shows you pages that contain that exact phrase.

Putting a – before a word is the same as the advanced option “without the words.” So, to use the example used earlier, searching for “free virus software” -trial -tryout will show pages with that exact phrase, not including the other two words.

Using site: followed by the domain name of the website you want to search will only return results from that particular website. For example, searching for “virus protection” site:computer-help-squad.com will only return results from the www.computer-help-squad.com website.

Again, these can be combined so -site: will return results from any site except the one you specify.

How to Figure Out the Modifiers

The easiest way to see how to use modifiers in your searches is to try some searches with the Advanced Search page and see how Google formats them.

Using our example again, if you enter ‘free antivirus software’ in the “with the exact phrase” box and the words ‘trial’ and ‘tryout’ in the “without the words” box, the search that Google runs looks like this:

“free virus software” -trial -tryout

If you play around a bit with the advanced searches, you’ll see how Google formats them for you. Next time, you can just enter them yourself in the standard search box instead of going to the Advanced Search page.

Once you get the hang of these options in Google, you’ll find that your searches get even more accurate because you can filter out the stuff you don’t want.

Cause Of Stuttering
Posted on January 30th, 2012 at 12:04 AM by admin

When a person has a stutter or a parent realises that their child is developing a stutter they often want to find out the cause. So what causes a stutter?

The answer is many things can trigger someone starting to stutter. These are some of them:
It can be a traumatic event
It can
run in the family
People may copy a friend at school who has a stutter and then it sticks An over aggressive relative

Last year I had a female client who told me how she had developed a stutter. She was fluent until the age of twenty four. At this age she became pregnant for the first time, she was very happy and excited about the prospects about becoming a mother.

She was apprehensive about the birth and her friends had been winding her up telling her how painful the experience is. She knew that they were only teasing and tried to keep relaxed.

The day of the birth arrived and unfortunately the delivery was particulary hard and she was extremely shocked about how bad it actually was. After the birth of the baby, who was a healthy boy she developed the stutter.

Not all people who stutter have it from an early age, another one of my clients was fluent until the age of nineteen. At this age he had a car crash and this was the trigger to him starting to stutter.

Jets Buzz Malta
Posted on January 29th, 2012 at 8:59 PM by admin

With visitor numbers static in recent years and facing new competiton from former Eastern Bloc countries offering cheap holidays, the recent announcement by the Maltese government that negotiations were at an advanced stage with two low cost airlines has sparked hopes that the island will see a rise in visitor numbers, much to the relief of some in the tourist industry worried about the future of Malta as a holiday destination.

Even before the new carriers to the island land the existing airlines have been offering return flights at prices seemingly much lower than in the past to try and hold on to their share of the market.

According to on-line travel guide YourMalta.com the airline negotiations have been tempered with the need for the islands government to see that the national carrier, Air Malta, isnt damaged as it is one of Maltas major employers.

Traditionally the UK has been Maltas biggest market for incoming tourists, often making up over half of the islands visitors in any given year, but some on the island see even this market as under threat. And property buyers from the UK have accounted for seventy per cent of Malta property sales to overseas buyers in recent years, settling in Valletta, Sliema, St Pauls, Mellieha, St Julians and Qawra.

A good portion of UK visitors and property buyers for Malta in recent years have been ex-forces who served for the British during WW2 when Malta held out against Hitlers Luftwaffe, and then in peacetime through to 1964 when Malta became independent, who returned for holidays.

But with the inevitability of this market declining a new breed of Maltas holiday and hotel entrepreneurs see Maltas future as less dependent on the UK tourist, and being more cosmopolitan.in her outlook.

Declining Market and New Opportunities

Tribune Properties, a UK company specialising in Malta properties, say they have noticed more buyers making enquiries from other countries over the last year. In particular they say they have been receiving enquiries from France, Italy and Germany.

The UK remains the foundation for overseas property buyers considering buying property in Malta, but the overall percentage is reducing as more and more people in mainland Europe have visited Malta, and liked it so much they want to either move to the island full time or buy a holiday home.

The arrival of low cost flights to Malta though could reignite British interest as three and four day breaks a few times a year becomes financially viable. If the airlines fly to destinations in Europe too the number of buyers for Malta property could rise in the immediate and medium term explains Tribunes Managing Director, Roger Munns.

For Maltas tourist industry three and four day visitors in increased numbers will be a welcome boost. There is discussion on the island about extending clubs opening hours beyond the current 4am.

Clubbers in the UK are used to 6am closing, and might be deterred from making a weekend trip with a three hour flight only to find shorter hours available for partying.

There are new opportunities for Malta, and its for the island to decide whether to embrace them and gain a new generation of visitors or ignore them and lose an asset for the economy agree YourMalta.com

Malta has a lot to offer the visitor apart from being a Mediterranean holiday island. Malta has a rich culture and history, and can easily appeal to all generations from toddlers to pensioners. More Italians and other nationalities are discovering Malta as a destination. Malta will become more cosmopolitan. And while some of the older more conservative residents are likely to be against a younger and more diverse mix of visitors from what they have been used to and see change as something to be afraid of, we believe the island will embrace the more cosmopolitan feel, while retaining the features that make Malta a unique visit among her Mediterranean island competitors.

Yes, it’s that time of year again-cold season. The typical cold is an upper respiratory infection that can be caused by more than 200 different viruses. Symptoms include sinus pressure, nasal congestion, headaches, body aches and sometimes fever and cough.

Recent statistics have shown that adults average two to four colds a year, which amounts to one billion colds nationwide. Contrary to popular belief, exposure to cold weather is not proven to cause colds. In fact, spending more time indoors actually increases the chance for viruses to spread.

When someone has a cold, sneezing, nose-blowing and nose-wiping may spread the virus. You’re likely to catch a cold by inhaling the virus if you are sitting close to someone who sneezes, or by touching your nose, eyes or mouth after you have touched something contaminated by the cold virus.

There are over-the-counter (OTC) medications available at your local pharmacy to relieve symptoms of the common cold. If you’re looking for 12 hours of relief from just one pill, Aleve Cold & Sinus is effective in treating headaches, body aches, fever, nasal congestion and sinus pressure that may result from a cold.

New guidelines published by The American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) suggest that the pain reliever naproxen, an active ingredient in Aleve Cold & Sinus, is more effective in treating cold-induced coughs than popular OTC cough syrups.

If a cold causes your sinuses to become congested, this congestion may lead to painful sinus headaches. You might have a sinus headache if you are experiencing pain or pressure around the eyes, cheeks and forehead; tender skin and bones over and under the eyes; and pain when bending over. The active ingredient in Aleve Sinus & Headache is an extended-release decongestant that works to reduce sinus pressure for up to 12 hours.

In addition to an OTC medication, other ways to treat your cold include:

• Get plenty of rest

• Drink plenty of fluids

• Don’t drink alcohol

• Gargle with warm water to soothe a sore throat.

“I’m exposed to germs every shift that I work,” said Marty Heggs, a registered nurse from Loveland, Colo. “Aleve Cold & Sinus allows me to continue to help others during my 12-hour shift. I recommend it to all my co-workers and patients.”

Aleve Cold & Sinus and Aleve Sinus & Headache are both available at your local pharmacy and many other stores where you purchase health and beauty products. If you cannot find these products on the shelf, ask your pharmacist or store manager for help, as they may be located behind the pharmacy or service counter.

You may try to save a few bucks by buying a designer handbag replica, but there are several reasons why it makes sense to buy the real thing:

1. Although replicas may look like the real thing, the workmanship and quality can’t be compared to the original.

2. Counterfeiters avoid paying taxes since their businesses are generally operated on a cash basis. Citizens like you and I still have to pay.

3. The sale of counterfeit designer goods has been linked to terrorist and gang activity as well as organized crime. Drugs are often smuggled inside counterfeit handbags.

Spotting a fake

There was a time when it was easy to spot a fake: misspelled logos, cheap leather and shoddy hardware. Now, fakes are starting to look rather good and its hard to tell the difference. Here’s how to tell whats real and whats not:

1. Authentic handbags are purchased from authorized registered dealers. Authentic designer handbags are not sold by street vendors, at home parties, at flea markets, in New York’s Chinatown, in Los Angeles’ Santee Alley, or at mall kiosks.

2. If youre considering a Coach handbag, the companys website provides a list of authorized dealers. Both Coach and Kate Spade give detailed information on spotting replicas of their products.

3. The price. A new Prada handbag will not sell for $50.

4. Country of Origin Labels. The country of origin for Fendi handbags is Italy. If the handbag has a label that says Made in Taiwan, it is not the real thing.

Buying designer handbags online

If you’re shopping online and find a designer handbag at a price thats hard to pass up, theres a way to tell if you’re getting an authentic product:

Read the product description carefully. Some online merchants will lure you into their sites by describing their products as original, authentic or genuine. After reading descriptions, you may find such phrases as inspired by a particular designer. This product isnt authentic and the phrase is used to protect the merchant from trademark infringement.

Want to know for sure its real?

Buy designer goods from authorized registered dealers only. You can find resources for affordable authentic designer handbags and other luxury goods at Luxewise.com

A Pocket PC is a handheld computer, which features many of the same capabilities as a modern PC. These handy little devices allow individuals to retrieve and store e-mail messages, create a contact file, coordinate appointments, surf the internet, exchange text messages and more.

Every product that is labeled as a Pocket PC must be accompanied with specific software to operate the unit and must feature a touchscreen and touchpad. Pocket PC products are created by some of the worlds top computer manufacturers, including HP, Toshiba and Gateway. As is the case with any new technology product, the cost of a Pocket PC was substantial during its early release. For approximately $700.00, consumers could purchase one of top-of-the-line Pocket PCs in 2003. These days, customers are finding that prices have become much more reasonable now that the newness is wearing off. For approximately $350.00, a new Pocket PC can now be purchased.

Even years after their release, Pocket PCs are a staple in the world of travelers, college students and business leaders. The need to stay in constant communication with family and/or colleagues has kept the portability factor one that remains popular today. When traveling for business or other reason, individuals often need a way to stay in touch. A desktop computer is simply not a feasible accompaniment and notebooks are at a constant risk for being stolen or damaged. A Pocket PC can obviously fit inside of a pocket, but may also find a safe haven in a purse, duffle bag, tote or other small compartment.

Purchasing a Pocket PC can be a difficult choice because of the various models and manufacturers available. When considering the options, consumers must look at any available warranty, included software and capabilities. Much like in the world of traditional desktop and notebook computers, manufacturers are always looking for a way to outdo the competition and the customer often finds that such actions may lead to a real bargain.

Like any other computer, a Pocket PC must be cared for in such a way that it is not exposed to extreme heat or cold for prolonged periods of time, is not shuffled around carelessly and is carefully packed for safety during travel. Owning a Pocket PC means having access to an address book, your e-mail account, the world wide web and your appointment calendar all in the comfort of your own pocket. Carrying the internet in your pocket? Now that is portability at its best.
